heidi

Director

Heidi is born, raised and living in The Netherlands with Jan and their two stray cats Bono (form Holland) and Magic (from Lebanon). She has an MBA and several Marketing degrees (e.g. NIMA-C and CIM UK) and has studied many cultures and languages (e.g. English, German, French, Arabic and Thai). She has 25+ years international experience in both the commercial as the non-profit sector as C-level executive, consultant, founder and shareholder in e.g. the agricultural, IT, education & training, business consultancy and humanitarian aid industries. In 2014 she founded Protifarm (now Ynsect – food ingredients from insects). She travels a lot between the Middle East and Thailand and her focus is to keep developing and contributing to sustainable initiatives especially when humans or animals are involved. Her dream is every stray dog or cat in the world has a happy, healthy and long life in balance with humans and nature and she is 100% determined that the only way to do this is by validated sterilizations. For that a lot of funds are needed. In 2023 she came up with the initiative of STRAYCONTROL to use her strengths: compassion, dedication, connection, networking to raise millions of funds for this initiative and found Hanno and Victor to join her on this mission!

hanno

Board Member

After having held a management position in tourism for more than 30 years, he was suddenly confronted with extreme violence against an innocent dog during a trip through Indonesia. It was then that he realized that he wanted to dedicate the rest of his life to helping animals in need, anywhere in the world. Therefore, he founded the Animal Emergency Foundation (Dierennood) in the Netherlands, continuously setting up large and small aid projects. In addition, every year he mediates opportunities for hundreds of Veterinary Medicine students in various clinics worldwide with his websites dierenstages.nl and vetstudents.eu. To date, this has resulted in more than 120,000 sterilizations for stray animals worldwide. He has been working with dozens of specialized animal clinics for 15 years, mainly for sterilizations.

Victor

Board Member

Victor, born and raised in rural East Netherlands, grew up surrounded by pets, leading him to pursue a career in veterinary science. After studying at the University of Utrecht, he gained experience in various clinics before joining a medium-sized mixed veterinary clinic. This clinic later specialized, and Victor, along with a colleague, continued as a companion animal clinic, creating a highly skilled team known for its high standards and happy outcomes for pets and their owners. Several years ago, Victor sold his share of the clinic to work independently. In 2013, during his first visit to Greece, he was struck by the large number of stray cats and dogs. Motivated to help, he worked in various locations in Greece before founding a neutering and spaying project on Samos in 2018 with local volunteers. This project also included educational programs for children in schools and expanded to the nearby island of Icaria. Victor advocates for a combination of spaying, neutering, and education to reduce stray populations, emphasizing the importance of local involvement and proper pet registration. To amplify his impact, Victor joined Heidi’s initiative to help reduce the number of strays worldwide.
